William Richard Barrett's Obituary
William Richard Barrett, born on October 30, 1935, passed away on August 28, 2024 at the age of 88.
Born and raised in Castle Shannon and a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School, Bill was a proud Marine and member of the 3rd Marine Division. As a young man he played semi professional football in Philadelphia and later had a notable career in banking; retiring as a Vice President and Marketing Manager of National City Bank.
Bill traveled the world with his wife, Helen, and Key West was their happy place. He rode camels in Jerusalem, floated in the Sea of Galilee, cycled in British Columbia, Ireland and Spain, and sailed many oceans, but both always loved returning home to Pleasant Hills where they lived for over 45 years.
Bill was an art enthusiast and accomplished artist. A lifetime learner, he loved to read and try new things, such as sky diving at age 80.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Helen (Nape), and he is survived by 4 children: William Barrett (Susan), Lisa McDermott (Dennis), John Barrett (ReShelle), and Heather Haley (Dennis); 9 grandchildren; 2 bonus grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; niece Stephanie Klima (Rich) and extended family in Scranton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 10:00 am at Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Elizabeth of Hungary worship site, 1 Grove Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
