Mr. Shaneyfelt was one of my favorite teachers. I graduated BHS in 1998. I loved his mechanical drawing class and worked on the yearbook staff with Shaney as our teacher rep. He was a great man and role model. Condolences to his family.
I was in Mr. Shaneyfelt's mechanical drawing class at Brentwood High School in 1972 and 73. I went on to get a degree in architectural drafting and design.
My early adult career was designing church interiors for Joseph Poli Art Studios in Pittsburgh.
I would change direction, move to California and spend the rest of my career in heavy equipment sales.
Mr. Shaneyfelt had such a positive impact on his students, and he was very dedicated in preparing us for our life's journey.
He was a great guy and mentor.

I'm moved to share my thoughts on Mr. Shaneyfelt, a remarkable teacher at Brentwood High School. He taught mechanical and architectural drafting during a time before CAD was introduced, and his calm demeanor and patience left a lasting impact on me. His inspiration guided me toward a career in my design-build company, and I carry that with me to this day. Although more than 30 years have passed, I still cherish the memories of his class and the motivation he instilled in me. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. I was one of Shaneys students in 1968. In part because of him and his teaching style, I followed in the same profession. Tom was a good man that I enjoyed many times together both as a colleague and dinners out with our other retirees.
Shaney was a special man. I worked with him briefly at Brentwood. He always had a good story and could make anyone laugh. My condolences go out to his children.
