Sharon Faye Gilbert's Obituary
Sharon Faye Gilbert was born on July 1, 1954 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mabel Gilbert. She passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.
Sharon graduated from Baldwin High school in 1972. She attended the Community College of Allegheny Country and became a certified CNA.
She worked for many years at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and at Manor Care in the South Hills. Her last years were spent working at the VA Hospital in Aspinwall. So many patients that she took care of fell under her spell of kindness and good humor. She loved her work and told so many funny stories about the people she cared for. Her friends have shared how good she was at giving care for her patients.
Sharon was the type of person who could light up the room. She had a wonderful sense of humor and charming witty way about her. There was nowhere she went that she did make someone smile or laugh. Even during illness so many of the hospital staff just fell in love with her.
She enjoyed family, friends and travel. She was able to travel within the United States and made several trips to the Caribbean on cruises with friends. I think she is best known in the family for her great cooking skills. No one could beat her Mac and Cheese. She constantly shared her very refined palette for seasoning food just right, sometimes a little too much.
Being a fan of fashion she loved to have the latest in stylish clothes, designer bags and shoes, and took great pride in styling and profiling, as they say. She liked a nice car too. But she was also very generous and loving particularly to her niece and nephew Alexis and Jordan and grand nephew Christian and Jordan Jr. She was really good at being the fun aunt. As a sister she was one of the greatest blessings, always there to lend a hand and a shoulder, warm a room with laughter, never letting anyone down. She cared lovingly for her grandparents in their last years allowing them to stay in their home and familiar surroundings. It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to her laugh, her smile and her beautiful spirit.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy and Ruth Wormsley, parents Kenneth and Mabel Gilbert, UncleNathaniel Andrews, brothers Lawrence and Alan McDonald, and brother in law George Bedeian. She is survived her her sister Ruth Bedeian, niece Alexis McDonald and husband Ralph McDonald, nephew Jordan Bedeian and wife Gabriella Bedeian, grand nephews Christian McDonald, and Jordan Bedeian Jr, niece Angie Green, nephew Ronnell Stackhouse, and a host of of other relatives.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Rd Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service in honor of Sharon will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the funeral home chapel.
