Our deepest condolences from Fran and the bunch at Silver Sneakers. You will be missed.
Sincerest condolences to Ray’s beloved family and his dearest friends. Among those dearest friends is my husband Clete. . . . . .In 1990, Clete told me about a very respected professional banker with whom he had much of his banking and who became a friend: Ray Bunchek. The name was familiar to me, but I couldn’t place it. Once Ray and I had an opportunity to talk on the phone, we realized our connection: In the mid-1960s, he was the vice president of a respected, local savings and loan association and I with a mortgage servicing corporation in which both businesses had many joint ventures. What a thrill it was to reconnect and to then meet each other face-to-face, as ours had been only a professional association via only the phone, correspondence, and legal documents. When Ray would phone Clete, just to talk or to make plans for their frequent “guys night,” Ray and I would spend considerable time on the phone reminiscing about the past and working for the outstanding president of our respective companies, talking about our schools’ reunions, surviving the nuns in Catholic schools, the importance of our Catholic faith, politics, the economy, his time in the United States Marine Corps, my experience as the then-wife of a fellow Marine during the Viet Nam era, the great hamburgers at the Loose Moose, our children, our grandchildren, etc. . . . . . .It truly was a pleasure to have known Ray professionally and then later as a friend—an excellent friend! Ray had the work ethic that is critical in business and especially in the field of banking. He was funny, “told it like it is” yet knowing when it was important to use diplomacy, caring, loving, and honest. . . . . R.I.P., Ray. You’ve earned your place of rest in Heaven and thank you for the precious memories!
