Mike Minoski, Jr's Obituary
age 89, of West Mifflin, passed away quietly on Thursday, July 23, 2020.
Born on June 1, 1931, in Yukon, PA, he was the fifth of nine children to the late Mike Minoski, Sr. and Edith (Cicci) Minoski.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.
Husband of Marion “Mitzi” Rose Taylor, with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on August 20th; devoted father of Karen (Brian) Benton, Michael R. (Rebecca), Mark A. (Suzanne), Ronald J. (Cherri), Lynne Ann (Marc) Roberson; proud grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 6; brother to William (Lotus) Minoski, Lucille Forish and Donna Lengal.
After high school Mike briefly took a job as a steel worker at USS Edgar Thompson Works before being drafted into the US Army during the time of the Korean War. After his military service, he and Mitzi married. He soon took up work as a carpenter for Seach Homes. As the business grew, he was promoted to facilities manager overseeing construction and operations staff at ‘The Bank Center’ shopping and restaurant complex in the city of Pittsburgh.
An avid fisherman and sports enthusiast he spent many years fishing and cheering on his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in sporting events. A mentor to many “Big Mike" as he was widely known was always there with his carpentry skills and mechanical abilities to help.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 10 AM, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 1 Grove Place, Pittsburgh, 15236.
