Mary Beth Karlek's Obituary
Mary Beth Hulley Karlek, born on April 2, 1952, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 72.
Mary graduated from Baldwin and earned her degree in Nursing from Duquesne University. She began her career in her father's medical practice before continuing her dedication to patient care at UPMC. Mary then took on the role as caregiver for her mother, Olga.
A resident of Finleyville, Mary cherished her time spent gardening, tending to her plants with the same love and attention that she bestowed upon her family. She was also an avid bird watcher and a passionate animal lover, often finding joy in the natural world around her.
Mary leaves behind her beloved children, Sarah (Rick) Hoover and Philip "Matt" (Amy) Karlek; her siblings, William (Laura), Susan and Paul; neices and nephews Emily (Will), Julie, Lucas (Rahma) and Benjamin; great-neices and nephews; as well as her cherished pets, Riley and Miss Kitty.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William and Olga Hulley as well as her brother, John.
Per Mary's request, services will be held privately.
