Julia Elizabeth Linn's Obituary
Julia Elizabeth Linn (Holeczy), 94, passed away peacefully at the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown, PA, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. She was ready to meet her Lord. In her day to day, Julia wanted everyone to know about her love for Jesus Christ and her walk with God. She loved to share her faith with everyone.
Julia started life in Pittsburgh, PA, as part of a large family. She was the eighth of nine children born to Samuel and Margaret Holeczy. Julia's greatest joy was marrying the love of her life, the late John W. Linn (Jack). They enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Julia was a loving mother to 5 children (4 boys and 1 girl). Every child was involved in something from sports to choir to drill team and band; Julia successfully shuttled everyone around. But having 5 children to schedule was not enough for Julia. There was so much more to do in a 24-hour day. Julia was involved in garden club, financial investment group, Bible study, managing a toy company and a part-time job at Sears. Julia was a woman before her time. In the days before social media, she sold her marvelous cream horn recipe for $1.00 by advertising in baking magazines.
After the children were raised, Julia did not slow down. She went off to college and graduated with an associate's degree in Business Administration. This degree led her to Conoco where she was an administrative assistant and ultimately retired. After retirement Julia volunteered at Sam Houston Hospital where she was recognized for over 2400 volunteer hours. But Julia was not all work. She loved to play games and was a phenomenal game player. Her game of choice was pinochle, but she was a worthy adversary in Scrabble, Mexican Train (dominoes), and Euchre. Never slowing down, she medaled at the Senior Olympics.
Julia made an impression on everyone that she met. She was known for speaking her mind and letting others know what she thought. She was the glue that held the family together by sharing information with everyone. Julia, known as Mom, Grandma and Gee Gee will be missed by her five children, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and her extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday January 9, 2025 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
