Julia was my best friend, Jamie's Grandmother. The first time I met her was at an Easter event with the family. I was much older than Jamie, so of course she wanted to know why it was that I was hanging out with her 18 year old Grandd
ughter. I told her that Jamie and I were saving each other from various troubles and that I promised I would be there for her Granddaughter throughout the rest of time.
When my daughter was pregnant with my first Grandson, Conner, I wanted her to spend her first year at home with him rather than having to work. I gave up my home to my daughter and her husband, and Julia helped me to make that happen as I rented the garage apartment of her son Jeff in the meantime.
I was honored to be the taxi driver who would take her to and from the airport when she would come to visit here in Houston.
Julia was a strong, proud, beautiful, and wonderful woman. I celebrate her life and her Legacy, and am still best friends with her Granddaughter Jamie (as promised) and also a friend to her son Jeff. If it weren't for Julia, I would never have had the chance to have these magnificent people in my life.
