John H. Walsh's Obituary
Dr. John H. Walsh passed away on July 14, 2018 surrounded by his family.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Franette Walsh, his children; Kevin Walsh, Timothy Walsh, Annette Doctorick (Ronald), and Jacqueline Walsh and grandchildren Jonathan Doctorick and Julia Anne Costello (John).
The foundation for John’s life was his strong Catholic faith. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a dedicated student and professor who sought the truth. He attended Duquesne University where he met his wife Franette Riva. After earning his Doctor of Philosophy from Georgetown University, Dr. Walsh dedicated himself to teaching undergraduate students at California University of Pennsylvania for 37 years.
In addition to his scholarly pursuits, John was a disabled veteran of the US army, he was committed to the pro-life movement and he was active in political analysis and activities. A great lover of sports – he was an athlete in high school and the Army. He coached the California University of Pennsylvania’s diving team. He also loved watching sports with his family. John enjoyed vacationing and spending time with his family in Stone Harbor, New Jersey.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 17 from 2-4 pm and 6-9pm at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236.
Mass of Christian Burial/Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday July 18 at 10 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary church in Pleasant Hills, PA. Father Dale DeNino will officiate. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery (McMurray, PA).
