John was our friend, part of our Computing Center family, our \"all in fun\" instigator; and last but certainly not least, our retiree lunch group's buddy. As kiddish as he was, he was very serious about his love for his family, and issues dear to his heart. He will be missed.

I drove with John from Latrobe to Bettis for over a year and we had very good discussions. In 1994 we had a bad snow storm and it was my turn to drive. John was adamant that we go to work so we did. My manager ( Joe bartko ) was surprised that we made it from Latrobe. About 2 hours later Bettis told us to go home. John wanted to stay. I told him he could stay and find a place to sleep in the CC. We went home with no problems since nobody was on the roads.
