John A. Doleno Sr.'s Obituary
John Albert Doleno, age 72, of North Versailles, passed away on March 6, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
John grew up in Pittsburgh's South Hills, and has remained a pillar of the community throughout his life. After graduating from Bethel Park High School, John proudly served in the Navy. After his honorable discharge, he went to work in the steel mill industry. He also proudly served as Fire Chief with the Library Fire Hall.
Despite his retirement from the steel mill industry, one of his favorite pass times was to join the family plumbing business on site, overseeing their work. It was less about the work, and more about being involved and present in the lives of his family members. His life was devoted to his family and his children, but especially his grandchildren. He loved to watch them grow, attending all school events and milestones.
His legacy lives on through his four grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Oldie was happiest when he was outdoors , especially when swimming or being on the water with his grandkids, teaching them to appreciate the world around them.
John was a loving and devoted father to Denise (Mike) John Jr. (Stephanie), Bronson (Collette), Monica (Patrick), grandfather to Sean (Kylie), Barrett, Fisher and Margot; devoted partner to Yvonne Novick; former spouse of Robin Doleno. He will also be missed greatly by numerous friends, cousins and family members, as well as his faithful dog Bennie.
John is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Ruth Doleno.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on March 10, 2026 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A funeral service will be held on March 11 at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel.
Memorial donations are encouraged to the Humane Society https://humaneanimalrescue.org/ or the Diabetes Association https://diabetes.org/.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Sereen and the medical team at the Forbes ICU for the level of care and compassion they were shown.
