James Andrew "Jim" Janosko's Obituary
On Friday, Sept. 9, James Andrew “Jim” Janosko, age 79, formerly of West Mifflin and New Boston, Michigan, passed peacefully at Family Hospice. He was the son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Anlauf) Janosko.
Following his 1960 graduation from Munhall High School, Jim joined the Air Force. His expertise in communications took him to radar stations in Newfoundland and Japan where he met Ayako Kashaira, his wife of 24 years before her passing in 1990. Later in life, he met Carole Burkhardt who shared life with him before her death. His life was fulfilled by his relationships with Ayako and Carole and their common interests.
While living in Michigan, Jim spent decades in careers with Ford Aerospace, formerly Philco Ford, and Lockheed Martin.
Throughout his life, Jim was a proud veteran. Active in New Boston’s American Legion, Downriver for Veterans and the Yankee Air Museum, he enjoyed social events and made many friends. He joined Sharpsburg American Legion when returning to Pittsburgh this past summer. While in Pittsburgh, he resided at Harmony at Harts Run where he once again continued to socialize and make new friends.
Known for his generous spirit, independence, genial nature and hardworking ethic, it seemed only fitting that Jim returned to his roots which Pittsburgh so proudly exemplifies.
