Jacqueline R. Scanlon's Obituary
Jacqueline R. Scanlon, a beloved educator and creative spirit, passed away on October 24, 2023. Born on September 26, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Jacqueline, known affectionately as Jackie, lived a life filled with love, creativity, and a deep commitment to education. Jackie was the wife of the late Ronald Scanlon, and the loving sister of Raymond Swick and his wife, Barbara. She was a beloved aunt to her nieces, Kerry, Jill (deceased), Christina, and Tamara. Jackie was also a dear sister-in-law to Margaret (Peggy) Scanlon and the late Richard. She was the treasured daughter of the late John (Jack) and Ruth Swick.
Jackie's was a graduate of Edinboro University, where she prepared for a teaching career that would impact countless young lives. Jackie dedicated over 40 years to teaching, with the majority of her career spent at West Jefferson Hills (McClellan) Elementary. Jackie was known for her artistic talents and creativity in both her personal and professional lives. She was a gifted decorator, bringing beauty and warmth to every space she touched. Her creativity was not confined to her home; she generously shared her talents with the community as a volunteer for the Pittsburgh Symphony Association (PSA). She will be remembered for her generosity, humor and flair by all who knew her.
Services are private. Family under the care of Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at Armstrong's Caste Village (Baptist and Grove Rd.) at noon on November 4, 2023. Friends and family are welcome.
