When we first moved into our home, an older gentleman across the street became my fast friend. I was a mess and he offered comfort and made me feel like I could do anything. He would walk over just to talk or give me advice whether I wanted it or not...lol. Hank would share stories of the crazy neighbors before me and make me laugh while doing it. He was always there to help or fix anything at a moments notice or just to sit on the steps and smoke. Hank hated my red metal roof and told me too! Only to come ring my doorbell 10 minutes later to apologize (his wife made him 😊) He was fierce in sticking up for Nico if I ever tried to apologize for any noise or too many cars on the street. Nico's a good kid, leave him alone...it's what kids do he would say. Hank loved his riding lawnmower and would graciously cut my front yard every time he cut his. Oh did I give him grief when he showed up with a brand new riding RED mower! He just chuckled and kept on mowing. I saw cars over there today and someone pushing a lawnmower and my heart sank. I found out Hank passed on Tuesday and my heart broke for his family, his wife and for all of us who loved him. I will miss him, his stories and his strength that he shared with everyone who knew him. He wasn't just a neighbor, he was a good man and a good friend. Rest easy Hank...until we meet again. ❤️
