Floyd J. Cassinelli's Obituary
Floyd J. Cassinelli “Flug”, age 72, of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024. Floyd was born on June 18, 1951, the son of the late Flo and Catherine (Rothbauer) Cassinelli.
Floyd proudly served our country in the United States Air Force where he was a weapons control systems mechanic. Following his honorable discharge from the military, Floyd went on to become the owner and operator of Cassinelli Tile & Contracting. He was a dedicated worker who took pride in his craft even designing an entire apartment addition on to his family home for himself.
In his free time, Floyd’s greatest passion was fishing. He enjoyed relaxing in his recliner admiring his mounted marlin, or his “greatest catch” as he liked to say. Floyd also was an avid hunter and took pride in his cars. He was a fast learner, picking up the guitar after only one lesson.
Floyd loved his family and often reminisced on the wonderful memories he had about family events and making wine together. He was very close with his sister, Nancy, who took care of him up until her passing in 2023. Floyd will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him, especially his dear friend, Kelli Carper and step-nephew, Joel Wilson.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Cassinelli Wilson. He leaves many cousins, friends, and extended family members.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service will be held at 2:00 pm in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will be held privately.
