I never met Ernie but when he had back surgery many years ago he needed someone to watch his cats. My mom volunteered and two of his cats stayed with my mom while he had surgery and recovered. He loved his cats! Kind and compassionate man.
Ernie was kind enough to step in when my date for senior prom backed out. The date was "too mature" to attend. Ernie was willing to make sure I could go and wear the special dress and join my friends.
