Eleanor Roberta Melzer's Obituary
Eleanor R. Melzer, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2022.
Eleanor was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years Andrew E. Melzer.
She is survived by two children: Andrew Melzer (Ann), Sinking Spring; Roberta Patton, Bethel Park; four grandchildren: Sarah Melzer, Thomas Patton, Alyssa Melzer, and Rebecca Patton; and one great-granddaughter: Danica Patton, who she loved unconditionally.
Born in Munhall, PA, she was a daughter of the late Charles I. Fertelmes and Dorothy (Fleming) Fertelmes. Eleanor had one brother Robert Fertelmes, who predeceased her.
After high school, she started her career working for Bell Telephone and later Mellon Bank, but more importantly she was a Mom and Grami extraordinaire. A wonderful cook, Eleanor loved cooking and baking for her family and friends, who were always welcomed in her home. She was a lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan and could regularly be found watching the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins.
Eleanor will be missed by all that knew her including her dog, Daisy Mae.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 6 to 8 pm and Friday morning, May 6th from 11am to 12pm. A memorial service will be held in the Jefferson Memorial Chapel immediately after Friday's visitation.
