My heart goes out to all of the Schirra family in sympathy and prayers. I fondly remember all the good times shared dancing and listening to the tunes played by Mr Stereo at the German Club back in the 80’s. After Lindsay was born to Mike and Patti Schirra, I would enjoy being in his most pleasant company each year at her birthday parties. Alf was always smiling and had a great sense of humor. May you rest in peace in heaven with Nicholas and all your loved ones who have gone before you.

My memory of Alf is that of an unselfish father who took me, a young boy, along with his sons on many fishing trips to the wall. He also shared his homemade dough balls for the fish and food that he brought for all of us to share. It was always a good time. And after I was married, he said if we ever needed a place to live his doors would always be open.

Condolences to my Uncle Al’s family at this sad time. I’m sure Alf’s memory will bring a moment of joy as you remember how wonderful he was. I certainly recall Uncle Al and his visits with family to our home in Atlanta. It was always a time for great fun and things to do. He sure enjoyed being with us kids. Similarly, I fondly remember our trips to Pittsburgh and visiting Uncle Al and Aunt Janet. We had wonderful times playing with our cousins in their backyard. How well I recall even playing Jarts, that now too dangerous game! But we were closely supervised and no one ever got hurt. My very first memory of my Uncle Al and his bride, Aunt Janet, was at their wonderful and joyous wedding. We had a live band and I learned to dance the polka. Thanks for all the great times Uncle Al. May you rest in well earned peace. Your nephew, Robbie
