Alfred Kirschman, artist and set designer, of the South Side, originally from Curry, South Park Township, on June 1, 2016. Son of the late Margaret (Hurl) Kirschman and the late Alfred Kirschman, Sr. He had a long association with Point Park University's Pittsburgh Playhouse, first as a graduate of their theatre arts program, as their resident scenic artist and designer for 16 seasons, and later as their house manager. He also studied set design at Carnegie-Mellon. His career over 40 years included set designs and scene paining for hundreds of plays, musicals, and dance productions at a variety of theatres in the Pittsburgh region. He was a founding member of South Park Conservatory Theatre. His career in New York City included off-Broadway shows, music videos for MTV and work at the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival. He received several awards for his art. He was also an instructor of scene painting and stage design at Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in South Park, PA and the Unity School of Christianity. He leaves behind his original artwork and many loving cousins, friends, colleagues, and students. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 4, at 11:30 AM at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. Interment private.
