We welcome groups of visitors such as college classes and garden clubs to utilize the cemetery and arboretum for educational purposes. Send us a message if your organization is interested in scheduling a guided tour or other collaboration with the Arboretum.
Arboretum Mission
The primary purpose of the Arboretum is to promote the beauty and serenity of the cemetery. The continued planting of climate-hardy trees, flowering plants, and ornamental shrubs. As a beautiful public arboretum and scenic outdoor green space near Pittsburgh, the park offers visitors an opportunity to experience nature, seasonal blooms, and mature specimen trees within a beautifully maintained landscape.

Level II Arboretum
Mission
Jefferson Memorial Cemetery was thoughtfully designed to blend natural beauty, horticulture, and rolling farmland into memorial parkland. With a vision rooted in conservation and landscape design, the cemetery was founded with a diverse collection of trees, shrubs, flowers, and statuaryto create one of the most unique cemetery arboretums and botanical destinations in the Pittsburgh area.
We welcome garden clubs, horticultural groups, college classes, local schools, and nature enthusiasts to explore the arboretum for educational and recreational purposes. to visit and learn about the wide variety of specimens within the cemetery grounds. We currently offer a self guided tour with a map of 30 of our most unique specimens. Each plant along the tour is marked with a yellow name plate identifying both the common and botanical names.

Rich Biodiversity
Our Arboretum collection currently contains over 200 distinct species, cultivars or varieties of trees and shrubs, including 50 North American native species, 20 unique conifers and 14 varieties of oaks. We are a level 2 accredited arboretum through ArbNet, the interactive community of arboreta.
