William D. Madison's Obituary
William D. (Meneskie) Madison, 79, of Pleasant Hills, a loyal husband, devoted father and beloved grandfather passed away from cancer at UPMC Shadyside hospital on March 30, 2021.
Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Madison; his three sons Jeff, Brian (Stacey), and Joel (Anne) Madison; his two adoring granddaughters, Sydney and Kylie Madison; his brothers Gerald (Elaine) Madison and Eric (Patricia) Meneskie; his sister Faith Ann (Hugh) Yorty; and an extended family of nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.
Bill was born on May 31, 1941 in Cuddy, PA to the late Charlotte and Thomas Meneskie. Bill lived with his Aunt Marian and Uncle Alfred Sposato in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood from ages 1-8 while his mother was being treated for TB. Bill had fond memories of his time in the city, recalled being loved dearly and treated like a king until he was able to return home to his mother and family. Bill attended Bethlehem-Center High School, then earned a bachelor’s degree from California State College, and later a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Bill devoted 38 years to teaching elementary education in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District, and was active with the AIU. He was a humble, kind, gentle and wise man who inspired his students and touched so many lives. Bill loved working in the yard, was an avid golfer, and thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent on the greens with his golf buddies. Bill’s last role in life, which he took so much joy in, was to be the doting grandfather of Sydney and Kylie, who will treasure his memory always.
Funeral services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. Family and friends will be received from 3-7PM on Friday, April 2nd, and 10-11AM on Saturday, April 3rd, with a memorial service to follow at 11AM in the funeral home chapel.
