Walter J. Macierowski Jr., age 92, of Pleasant Hills, on Tuesday October 19, 2021.
Beloved husband for 54 years of the late Shirley T. (Thoman) Macierowski; loving father of Marina (Tom) Pawlesh, Jay (Sylvia) Macierowski, Charles (Sherri) Macierowski and Anne (Tom) Frank; cherished grandfather of Maggy Pawlesh, Leigh Midkiff (Brian) and Derek, Chase, Colton ( Elisabeth), Jessica & Haley Macierowski and Riley & Grace Frank; loving great grandfather to Caden and Carter. Walter is predeceased by his parents Walter J. and Verna (Dargiewich) Macierowski Sr. and his granddaughter Crystal.
Graduated from GAR High School (Wilkes Barre, PA) in 1947. He was then drafted as a left handed pitcher by the Boston Braves and played for the High Point-Thomasville Hi Toms in the North Carolina State League from 1948 to 1949. After suffering bursitis in his pitching arm, “Lefty” accepted a basketball scholarship from Kings College and graduated in 1954. He subsequently served in the Army and was stationed in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1962. Walter spent his career as a pharmaceutical representative.
Family and friends will be received on Friday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10 am at Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish worship site St. Thomas A Becket Church, 139 Gill Hall Rd, Jefferson Hills. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish 139 Gill Hall Road Jefferson Hills, PA 15025.
