W. Frank Smutny's Obituary
On September 17, 2018, W. Frank Smutny of Pittsburgh passed away peacefully. He was 87. Husband of the late Marilyn C. (Lampus) Smutny, and dear father of Ronald F. Smutny of Bethel Park. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Smutny. Frank worked at Mesta Machine Co. for many years and later was employed by Pittsburgh Presbytery. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. He and Marilyn married in 1958 and were inseparable for over 51 years until her passing in 2010. For the past three and one-half years, Frank lived at the Grand Residence at Upper St. Clair, where he was very popular with the staff and his fellow residents. Thanks to everyone there for their many kindnesses. In his younger days, Frank enjoyed fishing, gardening and volunteering at his church. He was a low-key, quiet guy who was always eager to help others. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In accordance with Frank's wishes, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, 1 N. Linden St, Duquesne, PA 15110, or the charity of your choice.
