Virginia Lang Trovato's Obituary
Virginia (Ginny) Lang Trovato, 94, passed away surrounded by her family in her home in Venetia, PA on December 28, 2024. She was born on February 17, 1930 on Oswego St. on Pittsburgh's North Side, the youngest of five children of the late Fred and Anna Lang.
Virginia was the wife of the late James D. (Jim) Trovato for 55 years. She was happiest when she was attending activities or playing games with her family. She lived her life as a quiet 'doer.' She was an active member of the ISDA Bella Vista Lodge, and while Jim was the dynamic President, Virginia made everything work behind the scenes.
She impacted hundreds of lives in the quietest of ways. She volunteered weekly at Jefferson Hospital for more than 25 years, and dedicated 2 days a week for more than 15 years to preparing and delivering Meals on Wheels, as well as, volunteering with the St. Francis Ladies of Charity. She was an active member of St. Sylvester's and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Churches, attending daily mass, and offering her time as a Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan.
She loved to read and was a patron of her local public library, completing two to three books a week. She organized a monthly card club in the 1960s, and rarely missed through the 2020s. She enjoyed bowling and maintained a 130 average for over 70 years up until the last competitive game she played this October. She was an avid puzzler, and enjoyed playing Scrabble, Rummikub, and any card game, teaching everyone how to both win and lose graciously.
Virginia was beloved by her large, geographically scattered family, traveling throughout the US to celebrate their important occasions, never missing a wedding or a baptism. She is survived by her 10 children: Cheryl Smith, Falls Church, VA; Sharon (Ken) Stover, St. Louis, MO.; Roxanne (Don) Wood, Laytonsville, MD; Jim (Becky) Trovato, Brentwood, CA; J. Derek (Karen) Trovato, Gretna, LA; Pam (Jon) Clark, McMurray, PA; J. Dean (Carla) Trovato, Granite Bay, CA; Kris (Marty) McAndrew, Herndon, VA; J. Douglas (Allison) Trovato, Somerset, NJ; and Jenifer (Steven) Bublak, Venetia, PA. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Mom/ Gram / Great Gram will be greatly missed.
