Virginia R. Schiffour's Obituary
Virginia R. Schiffour, the model of a strong, independent woman, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023. Born on December 27, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Virginia was the beloved daughter of the late Michael and Sarah Blatnick. She was a woman of grace and elegance, always impeccably dressed, and possessed an incredible sense of humor that could light up any room.
Virginia was a devoted wife to her late husband, Donald Schiffour, and a loving mother to her late children, Linda Milletary, Debbie Kissel, and Tommy Milletary. She was a cherished sister to David Blatnick and the late Norma Potter and Michael Blatnick, Jr. She was also a beloved aunt to her nieces, Ruth "Cissy" Skorupa, her best friend, and Sally Boggess. Her surviving sister, Dorothy Scarpino, will remember her fondly.
Virginia was a loving grandmother to Deborah (Scott) Betz, Sarah (Terrence) Dawson, Philip (Jenny) McMullen and Steve Kissel. She was predeceased by her grandson, David Guentner. Her great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Anthony, David, Sierra, Jordan, Joselyn, Briaunna, Aiden, and Mila, were her pride and joy. She loved nothing more than spending time with them, creating memories that they will cherish forever.
A proper lady with a heart full of love, Virginia was known for her culinary skills. She taught everyone in the family how to cook, passing down recipes that will continue to bring them together at the dinner table. She was also an avid golfer, a hobby that she pursued with great passion and skill.
Virginia was a die-hard Steelers fan, her love for the team was infectious and brought the family together during game nights. She was also a lover of the sunshine, often found basking in its warmth. She enjoyed visiting her brother in Florida and sitting by his pool, creating memories that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Despite the loss, Virginia's family and friends will remember her as a woman who lived life to the fullest. Her laughter, her love for her family, and her zest for life will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a woman who knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, and she taught those around her to do the same.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 12 noon - 2 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh 15236. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm in the funeral home's chapel following visitation.
