Virginia Hoffmann Nelson , 67, of Jefferson Hills passed away peacefully on May 26, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born or December 3, 1949, in New Eagle, PA, daughter of the late Joseph L. and Helen (Edmends) Hoffmann. Virginia grew up and lived in Monongahela for 50 years. She graduated from Monongahela High School in 1967 and from Fairmont State University in 1970 in Home Economics. After college, she lived in Guam for 2 1/2 years and worked at a jewelry store where she developed her love and passion for fine jewelry. Upon returning to the states, she was a homemaker and had her own small cake business. Everyone always remembered Virginia's delicious cakes, she put all her heart into every detail to make them beautiful. After that, she then was a business owner of Nelson's Beer Barn, in Belle Vernon, PA. In the 90's she worked as a jewelry manager at JCPenney's for 14 years and then JAB Jewelers where she continued her passion for jewelry. For the past 8 years, Virginia has worked at Best Buy, where she excelled with her computer and technology skills and was the considered the Mom of the store. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, bowling, reading, wine tasting with her daughter, watching her son's baseball games, and spending time with her family and grandson. She is survived by her loving and devoted partner of 17 years, Dave Neel; her daughter Christine Nelson Bennett and son in law, David; her son, Matthew S. Nelson; and grandson Noah J. Bennett. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Rd, Pittsburgh 15236. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home's chapel on Thursday at 10 a.m. Online condolences may be left at www.jeffersonemorial.biz.
