Virginia Frances (Rao) Casato
Age 100, on Thursday March 2nd, 2023. Born December 27th, 1922, in Galloway, West Virginia. She grew up in Coraopolis, the youngest of 10 girls, earning her the nickname "Baby". Graduated from Coraopolis High School in 1940 and worked as a department store clerk both before her marriage at age 19 and after her children were in school. In her younger years she enjoyed cooking and baking but remained an avid reader and crossword puzzle fan into her 99th year.
She is survived by her 4 children: Carl (Patricia), Joseph, Carla and James and one beloved Granddaughter Gina Marie. Her husband Carl preceded her in death at age 93, as well as all of her sisters: Josephine, Sara, Fannie (Philomena), Jennie (Geremina), Mary, Millie (Emelia), Barbara and 2 in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Castle Shannon Community Library at 3677 Myrtle Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15234; or the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank at 1 N Linden St, Duquesne, PA 15110.
No Visitation. A Christian Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
