Violet E. Cumpston's Obituary
Age 105 of Bethel Park on Saturday January 6, 2024. Beloved wife for 68 years of the late Charles Cumpston. Loving Mother of Judith Lynne Shuler, William Louis Cumpston (Marsha), and Kathy Jean Lapko.: Grandmother of Devon (Bill} Curtis, Brian Shuler, David (Mandy) Cumpston, Scott (Chrissy) Cumpston, Nicholas Lapko, Jesse (Amie) Lapko; Great Grandmother to; Billy AKA Will, Logan, Kaylyn, Jenna, Jaden, Abbie, and Rosaline. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 10 brothers and sisters.
Violet was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Lifespan Senior Center, and the Gold Card Club. She loved gardening and was weeding her periwinkles until she was 90. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She made all of her Grandkids a quilt. She loved her daily glass of wine or two. She was a highly intelligent, kind person. But most of all she was a wonderful Mom and Grandmother, loving but strict . Always available to help whoever needed it. Last October she finally made the oldest attendee at the Mayor’s “Over 90” luncheon! At the age of 91, she starred as an extra in the movie Love and Other Drugs.
She and her Stories will be sorely missed.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Wednesday, January 10 from 2 pm - 4 pm and 6 pm - 8 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 11 at 10 am in the funeral home's chapel.
