Hertzog, Verletta Grace (Schoffstall)
Verletta passed away peacefully on July 1, 2017 at the age of 92. Verletta was the beloved wife of William Hertzog for 68 years; mother of Leslie Hertzog (Paul Carrellas), Julia Ries (the late Tim Ries), David Hertzog (Nancy); grandmother to Nicholas Ries (Tonya), Elaina Busold (Andy), Jacob Hertzog (Erica Duncan), and Brian Hertzog; and great grandmother to Abi Ries. Verletta is remembered for her kind and generous spirit, a zest for life, a passion for travel, and an interest in everyone she met. She loved and adored her husband and family. Verletta held a Masters degree from California University of Pennsylvania and worked as a Nurse Practitioner for the Pittsburgh Public Schools until her retirement. She volunteered in Appalachia and was active with the retired nurses of Pittsburgh. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She is survived by her sister Gladys Hart, and was preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred Schoffstall, Naomi Schoffstall, Donald Schoffstall, Audress Mengel, Alma Reinwalt, Beatrice Hottenstein, Daris Grim, Robert Schoffstall, and Evelyn Austin.
