Thomas William Strong's Obituary
Thomas William Strong, 92, of Asbury Heights, Mt. Lebanon, PA, died peacefully on Monday, February 03, 2020.
Born on Friday, April 01, 1927, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late George and Letitia (Calhoun) Strong formerly of Pittsburgh, PA. He was a 1944 graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School in 1944 and Duquesne University in 1951. Thomas was a veteran of the US Navy in the final years of World War II, serving as an electrician on a transport ship. He worked in industrial sales with Airco, Air Products, and the James M. Cox Co. up until the age of 89.
Thomas is survived by one son, Thomas William Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
On Tuesday, August 20, 2019 he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Joycelyn Grace (Sessi) Strong, daughter of the late Harry Sessi formerly of Whitehall, PA and the late Margaret Mercedes (Entinger) formerly of Riverside Nursing Center, McKeesport, PA. He was also preceded in death by four siblings, Esther Letitia Pickard of Pittsburgh, PA, Dorothy Mae Harm of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert George Strong of Houston, TX, USA, and Luella Catherine Strong of Houston, TX, USA; four grandparents, Catherine (McKee) Strong of Glasskeragh, County Donegal, Ireland, Robert Strong of Glasskeragh, County Donegal, Ireland, William Calhoun of Pittsburgh, PA, and Mary Anne (Fulton) Calhoun of Pittsburgh, PA.
Services have been entrusted into the care of Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills.
