Thomas Edward McMonagle's Obituary
Thomas McMonagle, a generous, loving, and selfless man, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023, in Pleasant Hills, PA. Born on September 3, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA, Thomas lived a life full of love and dedication to his family and community.
Thomas was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army. His service to his country was a testament to his selfless nature and commitment to the principles of freedom and justice. After his military service, Thomas continued to contribute to his community in a different way. He was a dedicated coach for his children's little league teams in softball and baseball. His love for sports extended to never missing a basketball, football, or soccer game for any of his grandchildren. His presence on the sidelines was a constant source of support and encouragement for his family and their teammates.
Above all, Thomas was a devoted family man. He adored his wife, children, and grandchildren, always putting their needs before his own. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, from his unwavering support of their activities to the simple joy he found in their company. His family was his greatest pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Eileen McMonagle, his loving children April (Walter) Scott and Thomas (Christine) McMonagle. His cherished grandchildren, Leah Scott, Ryan Scott, Justin Scott, Angela McMonagle, TJ McMonagle, and Rachel McMonagle, will remember their grandfather as a pillar of strength and love. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his loving parents, Francis and Mary McMonagle, and his siblings, Mary, Isabelle, Elizabeth, Winifred, Frances, and John.
Thomas's life was a testament to the power of love, generosity, and selflessness. His dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his commitment to his community left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and in the many lives he touched throughout his life.
As we mourn the loss of Thomas, we also celebrate his life and the love he shared with us. His memory will continue to inspire us to live with kindness, generosity, and love. We will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, whose life was a testament to the power of love and family.
Family and friends will be welcomed for Memorial Visitation on Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 7:00PM-9:00PM and on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 12:00PM-2:00PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, PA 15236. A Blessing Service will be held following final memorial visitation in the funeral home chapel at 2:00PM-2:30PM. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park.
