Thomas B. McGibbeny's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts, yet a spirit of celebration that we announce the passing of Thomas B. (Tom) McGibbeny, who departed this life on April 8, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 13, 1945, in Pittsburgh, PA, Thomas lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to those around him.
Tom was a devoted husband for 45 years to Judy McGibbeny, with whom he built a beautiful life; loving father to Tami Smyrski, Brad (Janet) McGibbeny, Jeffrey (Amy) Bissett, and Leslie (Ryan) Kislock; grandchildren Joshua Smyrski, Caryna Smyrski, Ryan McGibbeny (Taryn), Reid McGibbeny (Chelsea), Gillian Bissett, Emmy Bissett, and Boden Bissett; great grandchildren Addison, Cooper, Brayden, Evelyn, Harper, and Everett McGibbeny. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He was also a loving brother to his twin sister, Kathy Houston, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Reid and Dorothy McGibbeny.
Tom was known for his warm smile, infectious laughter and sense of humor, and unwavering spirit. He possessed a tremendous work ethic and shared a deep love for music, often captivating friends and family with his skillful guitar playing and heartfelt vocals. A man of strong Christian faith, he exemplified generosity and good nature, always ready to lend a hand or uplift others with his kindness. His creative spirit shone through his poetry and love for dancing, and he left a lasting impact on the hearts of many.
Tom will be lovingly remembered and celebrated at a series of gatherings honoring his remarkable journey. The visitation will take place on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home 301 Curry Hollow Rd Pittsburgh PA 15236, where friends and family will have the opportunity to share in the warmth of his memory.
A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday April 18, 2026 11:00 am at Peters Creek Baptist Church 6300 Library Rd, South Park Township, PA 15129.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Thomas's name to Peters Creek Baptist Church 6300 Library Rd, South Park Township, PA 15129.
