Thomas "Thom" Codelka's Obituary
Thomas J. Codelka, known affectionately as Thom to his friends and family, embarked on his final adventure on a day as bright and hopeful as his spirit, passing away at his home, his favorite place on April 8, 2024, after a courageous journey with cancer.
Born on May 18, 1953, in McKeesport, Thom's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the unyielding determination to make each day count. Thom's passion for life was as infectious as it was boundless. He met each challenge with a grin and a wise word, turning obstacles into stepping stones on the path to joy and fulfillment. His 45-year romance with his beloved wife, Trudy, was a testament to true partnership and unwavering support, inspiring all who knew them.
A family man at heart, Thom instilled in his children, Katie (Mike Morgan), Tom, and Paul, the values of kindness, perseverance, and the importance of chasing dreams. Thom's role as a grandfather to Lily and Andi was a source of immense pride and joy, each moment spent with them a treasured gift. Thom's siblings, Mary Margaret of San Francisco, Maureen of Maryland, Phil of Atlanta (Jo Anne), and his late twin brother Tim (Patricia), shared in the laughter and light he brought into this world.
Thom's legacy is a beacon of hope and inspiration, a reminder that life's beauty lies in the journey, not the destination. He was a man who danced in the rain, sang in the sunshine, and never missed an opportunity to lift others up. His words of encouragement echo in the hearts of those he touched, urging us all to live fully, love deeply, and embrace each day with an unwavering zest for life.
As we bid farewell to Thom, we do so with a celebration of a life marvelously lived. His spirit, a brilliant flame that warmed us all, will continue to shine in the stories we share and the lives he's impacted. Thomas J. Codelka may have completed his earthly sojourn, but his journey of influence marches on, a timeless legacy of love, laughter, and the power of a life well-lived.
