Teresa A. Counihan's Obituary
Teresa (Bandi) Counihan, 89 of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully, her family by her side on February 7, 2021.
Teresa joined with her beloved husband, George, to create a loving home here on earth for 58 years, and she now enjoys an eternal life of love with him and our dear Lord. Adored and loving mother of George (Gail), Patrick (Carol), Kathy (Frank Vertosick), Mike (Carolyn), Tim (Betsy), Jeff (Diane), Ed (Jan) and late infant son Frank. Beloved Gram of Brian, Kelsey, Tim, Rick (Heather), Matt (Emily), Emily, Liz (Nich Popp), Michael, Laura, Joshua (Courtney), Paige, Caitlin (Dan Cortese), John, Patrick, James, Anna and Edward and six great grandchildren. Daughter of the late John and Viola Bandi. Sister of Bea (late Bill) Gray, Tom (Phyllis) Bandi, Vi (Joe) Luttringer and Ginny (late Don) Steigner and the late Barb Heinecke, Sue Hirschinger and John, Bob, Jim and Dick Bandi. Sister-in-law of Connie Bandi, Tom (JoAnn) Counihan and the late Jim, Johnny, Gerald Counihan and Margaret Dunlap and Mame Augenstein.
A true homebody, Mom passed away in the home in which she raised her family, located between the house she was born in and the farmhouse she grew up in. Famous for her delicious pies and potato salad, she also enjoyed baking cookies, making jam and sewing. She handmade quilts for her seven children and baby quilts for all of her grandchildren. She was a founding member of St. Germaine’s Church. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and her daily rosary was most likely the reason Mom survived raising six “boys” and a daughter.
Visitation will be private.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Germaine Worship Site. Masks required, social distancing and limited seating capacity of 300 strictly adhered to at the church.
Interment private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Arrangements through Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. Germaine's Church, 7003 Baptist Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102 or the Little Sisters of the Poor 1028 Benton Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 http://www.littlesistersofthepoorpittsburgh.org/
