Steve Chernicky's Obituary
Steve Chernicky, 95, of Bethel Park, passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 21, 2022.
Steve is survived by his children, Judith M. (Steve) Kruljac, Stephen K. (Caryn) Chernicky and David M. (Kimberly) Chernicky; grandchildren, Jason (Amanda) Kruljac, Justin Kruljac, Jaclyn (Chris) Clackson, Alyssa (Rodger) Davis, Evan Chernicky, Jenna Chernicky, and Marena Chernicky; great-grandchildren, Chase, Paige, Natalie, Rylee, Rodger and Brayden; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Chernicky; parents Mike and Helen Chernicky; and siblings Michael Chernicky, Joseph Chernicky, John Chernicky, Mary Dwornick and Helen Chernicky.
Steve was born and raised in the 10th Ward of McKeesport where he attended the McKeesport Vocational High School. Upon graduation he served in the U.S. Navy stationed in Jacksonville Florida. After his time in the service, Steve worked as a lineman for the P&LE Railroad. Upon being laid off from the Railroad, Steve started a small cleaning service. With hard work, long hours, dedication and integrity, Steve grew his company to a commercial cleaning company serving the tri- state region with over 150 employees. He was an active member of the Bethel Park Kiwanis Club and St. Joan of Arc Church. Steve and Mary were devoted members of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America Lodge #248 where they enjoyed, music, dancing and picnics. An avid Steeler fan, Steve was a season ticket holder for over 50 years and attended three Super Bowl Championships.
