Stephen Lee Momeyer's Obituary
Stephen Lee Momeyer, age 72, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at his home in Athens, GA. Steve was born in Erie on September 19, 1949, the son of the late Frederick and Betty (Keep) Momeyer.
Steve graduated from McDowell High School and went on to proudly and courageously serve as a Navy SEAL during the Vietnam War. After leaving the military, Steve received his degree from Penn State University, which led him to his work as an engineer in the manufacturing industry. After meeting as teens, and then reuniting as adults, Steve married his beloved wife Kimberly (Ladley) of Pittsburgh in 1975. They added long awaited daughter Jamie to their loving family in 1988. Steve was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1985, which he fought bravely for the rest of his life.
Steve will forever be remembered as incredibly intelligent, ridiculously funny, and fiercely caring. Steve was a true polymath, as his expertise spanned numerous subject areas. There was no problem he couldn't solve, no project he couldn't complete, and no conversation he couldn't add his insight to.
In addition to his parents, Steve is preceded in death by niece Katie Irvine, and in-laws Thomas and Winifred (Morgan) Ladley. He is survived by his devoted wife, cherished daughter, brother Michael (Valerie Weaver) Momeyer of Erie, sister Laurie (Richard) Irvine of Albion, nephews Adam Irvine of Erie and Kristopher Momeyer of Lexington, KY, and sister-in-law Christine (Jon) Cresson of Penn Run, PA.
Visitation will be held June 6th, 2022 from 11AM to 12PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Rd, Pittsburgh, PA, 15236. Chapel Service to immediately follow.
