Stephen L. Chomas, Jr.'s Obituary
Stephen L. Chomas, Jr., 92, of West Mifflin, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. He was born in Elizabeth, PA, on June 14, 1930, the loving son of the late Stephen, Sr. and Anna (Brier) Chomas. Stephen is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Jean (Kospick) Chomas; his daughter, Amy Carlson and her husband, Charles "Chuck"; and numerous cousins.
Stephen proudly served our country in the United States Navy in 1951 through 1954. He was stationed in San Diego and made numerous trips to Japan during his time of service. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he went on to enjoy a long career with U.S. Steel for 35 years retiring as the Superintendent of the Chemical Department. After retiring, he spent 9 years working at Allied Security with Triple A Business Travel.
Stephen was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Duquesne. He was an avid golfer enjoying many games with his best buddy, Charlie Coulson. He was a member of the Monongahela Country Club and the former Duquesne Golf Club. Stephen enjoyed tending to his garden growing both beautiful flowers and tomatoes, and enjoyed vacationing with his family, especially trips to Las Vegas.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 12:00 -2:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service will be held at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
