Smilla "Millie" Matich's Obituary
Smilla "Millie" Matich
Age 95, of Baldwin, passed away on February 6, 2022. She was born in Lorain, Ohio to the late Kojo and Milka Trbovich. She was married for 55 years to her husband George, her everything, who died in 2010.
Shaped by her youth growing up as the daughter of hard working immigrant parents during the Great Depression and World War II, Millie was a strong woman who lived independently until 1 month ago. Over the years, she was employed as a bank teller, teacher's aide and bookkeeper. But her most important job was making sure that everyone in her family was loved, nurtured and cared for. She cherished family time more than anything else.
She will be deeply missed by her family who loved her as much as she loved them. She is survived by her daughters Melanie (George) Walsh, Saundra (Mark) Veseleny, granddaughters Laura (Rob) Coppock, Kristen (Mike) Sikorski, Nicole Walsh, grandson Matt (fiancee Erin) Veseleny, great grandchildren Mila Coppock and soon to be born baby Sikorski, sisters Helen and Anita Trbovich, sisters in law Mary Ann Trbovich and Vida Kernich. In addition to her parents and husband, Millie was predeceased by her brothers Nick, Mike and George Trbovich.
The family would like to thank the Allegheny Health Network's Healthcare at Home Hospice for their excellent care and heartfelt compassion.
Services and interment will be private with the Very Rev. Protopresbyter George Veselinovic of Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral officiating. Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the hospice at https://5814.thankyou4caring.org/hpcare
