Sieglinde "Ziggy" B. DeGenes' Obituary
Age 80, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Bamberg, Germany, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January, 12, 2019, at Family Hospice and Palliative Care. Born on May 10, 1938 in Bamberg, Germany, she witnessed incredible changes to her world, and she met her loving husband, Ralph "Sonny", while he was stationed as an American soldier in her small German town. She immigrated to the United States, settling in Pittsburgh, with her husband and young daughter. Ziggy dedicated her life to her family and worked countless hours to provide for them. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them, and she especially loved her role as Oma. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. Her wisdom and unconditional love will always be instilled upon us. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Ralph, their four children; Sherry (Dennis) Frisch, Ralph "Dino" (Janet) DeGenes, Pamela (Glenn) Wild, and Anthony DeGenes; loving Oma of Brittany (Dan) Kail, Chad, Courtney and Chelsey Frisch, Amber, and Nicholas DeGenes; great Omi to Sebastian and Olivia Kail and Jaxon DeGenes; also survived by cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Gretel Germer, one brother, Manfred Germer, and cousins. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
