Sandra L. Winer's Obituary
Sandra L. Winer, 88, of Pittsburgh, passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 27, 2025.
Born to Joseph and Martha Rockot , Sandra grew up in Pittsburgh's South Side neighborhood and graduated from South Side High School. She met her loving spouse and they went on to build a beautiful life and family together. She worked several jobs in her lifetime but her most important role was that of homemaker, mother, and babysitter to her grandchildren.
She is remembered as a phenomenal baker who was always willing to lend these skills for family gatherings and church bake sales. Her apple pie was something to look forward to every holiday season. She and her sisters participated in the Wilton cake decorating classes and learned many skills to also make her desserts a feast for the eyes.
Her creative ability could be seen at special events where she crafted centerpieces, favors and wreaths for those celebrating. She passed on these skills to her own daughters, grandchildren, as well as the children in the church Youth Club. She was very active at South Side Presbyterian Church.
Sandra is survived by her loving daughters Patricia (John) Frye, Susan (Darrin) Mesick, Kimberly (Rob) Perez; grandchildren, Matthew, Rachael, Kelli, and Kristen; great-grandchildren Carter and Otto; and siblings Joseph (Pat) Rockot, Linda (Paul) Schmidt, Ronda (Ray) Kopchak. She was preceded in death by her loving spouse Wenzel "Chuck" Winer, parents Joseph and Martha Rockot and siblings Lorel Shoup and James (Max) Rockot. She was also an aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday August 30, 2025 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home 301 Curry Hollow Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A Funeral Ceremony will be held following the visitation at 12:00pm in the Funeral Home Chapel.
