Roy graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in 1955. Roy worked many jobs while in high school including being a duck pin setter at a bowling alley, helper at Saxonwald Greenhouse, and maintenance at the Grant Building in Pittsburgh. Roy enlisted in the Army in 1955 and after an honorable discharge, he acquired an apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 5 in Pittsburgh. During his 65 years as a member of IBEW 5, Roy worked on many projects including the Liberty and Fort Pitt Tunnels, Pitt Stadium lights and Homestead Works. Roy was a member of the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Scenery Hill, PA. He had many interests including golf, bowling, woodworking, stained glass, hunting, playing cards, Sudoku, and music.
Roy's most notable accomplishment and source of pride was his family. He provided a safe, comfortable, and happy life for his wife and children. Roy was full of life and always had joy in his eyes. He was always up for a good time and sharing a cold "foamy" with friends.
Roy's many friends and his loving family will miss him. We will always remember the indelible place he had and continues to have in our memories and hearts.
