Ronald G. Sayers, Sr.'s Obituary
Ronald Glenn Sayers Sr., 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 23, 2025, at his home located in Finleyville, PA. He was known to many as Ron, to his family and friends as "Dick," Dad, and "Pops" to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved him. He will be remembered for his commanding nature and unshakable work ethic. Most of all, he is remembered for his generosity of time, knowledge, and willingness to help people. Those who knew him best experienced his deep compassion, warmth, and love for his family and friends.
Born on the farm on August 16, 1939, in Clarion, Pennsylvania, Ron was the son of Kenneth Blaine Sayers and Evelyn Jane (Warner) Sayers, who have preceded him in death. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Lillian "Lil" Sayers. Together, they built a family grounded in love for Jesus and others, loyalty, and high expectations. Ron took great pride in seeing each of his children graduate from school, work hard in life, and marry individuals that he loved.
Ron is survived by his wife, Lillian, of 67 years, his children, Ron & Cheri, Doug & Susan, Becky & Tom Plunkett, his siblings, Nancey & Buzz Kwiatkowski, Linda & Ray Preffer, Lonnie & Linda Sayers, his nine grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.
A dedicated carpenter by trade, Ron took great pride in his craft and his membership in the Carpenters Union. His work ethic and reputation for excellent work led to his advancement as a Superintendent of Commercial Building. He often reminded others that good work was worth both the time and the effort, and he was always willing to pass down his knowledge. He loved teaching others, and he had a special gift for turning a simple question into a two hour Masterclass.
Outside of work, Ron was an outdoorsman who found peace and joy in nature. He loved hunting, fishing, and long trips on his motorcycle, in his car, or truck.
Whether known as Ron, Dick, Dad, or Pops, he will be remembered as a hardworking, devoted husband, loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His warmth of heart, legacy of love, and teaching will continue to guide those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, PA, 15236.
