Roland John Roth's Obituary
Roland John Roth, 98, originally of Bethel Park, PA. passed away peacefully January 7, 2024 at his daughter’s home in Suffern, New York.
John is survived by his beautiful wife of almost 70 years, Florence (Flo), with whom he created a loving family that now consists of 37 people (and counting). John and Flo had four wonderful girls, Linda (Bill) Jacobs, Debbie Lawler, Diane (Jon Mark) Robbins and Marlene (Steve) Whiteman. John was the cherished grandfather to 7 granddaughters, 3 grandsons and had 11 great-grandchildren. He also has many loving nieces and nephews who were part of his life.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Assunta (Capozzoli) Roth, brothers Nick (Louise) Roth, Pietro Roth, Pete (Grace) Roth and sisters Antoinette (Hank) Frey, Dorothy (Bob) Prior and Evelyn Roth.
John joined the Marines at age 18, rose to rank of sergeant and fought in World War II. He had a strong work ethic. He started his own real estate company and was a contractor in the South Hills area. He loved his work and continued it well into his 90’s. Outside of work, John was an avid golfer, had a good sense of humor and was a guy’s guy enjoying cards at the club and a good cigar with friends and sons in law. He loved his family and that love carried through to all of his descendents. This was evidenced by all 30+ family members enjoying a yearly Roth family reunion – much of the time in one big house.
John will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who were blessed to have known him.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 12-2pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, PA, 15236. A Blessing Service will follow in the chapel at 2pm.
