Robert Lee Thomas' Obituary
Robert Lee Thomas, age 81, of Whitehall, formerly of Finleyville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Robert was born on February 13, 1944, the son to the late James C. and Ruth M. Thomas.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Donna (O'Donnell) Thomas and his daughters, Nancy (Bill) Crowder and Cindy Morris. He was the beloved Pap of Kristin (Michael) Davis, Kelly (Christopher Schillero) Morris, Brittany (Frank) Kurkowski and Lee (Sadie Myers) Crowder; and the great grandfather of Nathan, Riley and Nolan Davis and Madison Schillero. Robert also leaves his sister, Shirley Everett of Levittown, PA.
Robert worked at the Hartson Pumping Station for Equitable Gas for 27 years until he suffered an injury in 1991. He held many positions over the years with his last being chief engineer. He was a former member of the Finleyville Volunteer Fire Department.
Robert was an avid NASCAR fan, especially of Richard Petty. When he wasn't watching the latest race, he loved listening to music, favoriting the country genre. Before his injury he loved to work on cars and ride his Dune Buggy. Robert also enjoyed driving his Ford handicap accessible van, offering rides to any friends or family members he could.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service in honor of Robert will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 8, 2025, in the chapel at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
