Robert F. Sibole's Obituary
Robert F. Sibole, age 84, passed away on December 12, 2025.
Robert was born in the most famous place in the USA, Hollywood, California. He loved to ride his bike throughout Hollywood and the surrounding area, becoming the first person to ride their bike on Santa Monica Boulevard. He loved going to the train yard to watch the comings and goings of the rail yard with his mother and father.
Bob went to and graduated from Loyola Marymount college where he majored in Political Science. A lover of classical music, he became one of the classical DJ's on campus (DJ Jazzy Bob).
After college, he wanted to see more of the country, so he joined the US Navy where he was assigned to a destroyer in Newport, Rhode Island. This is where he met two nuns and asked about a church he could attend while stationed in Newport. The sisters fixed him up with writing letters to Ann, his future wife. When the two finally met, it was love at first sight.
Bob and Ann married, and since he was still a Naval man the pair moved to Bob's new station in Charleston, South Carolina where their oldest daughter Kathleen Ann was born. They then moved on to Philadelphia where Deborah Ann was born, and finally Dorothy Ann was born in Washington, D.C.
Bob and Ann loved to travel, so the Navy life was perfect for them. He moved his family across the country twice, from Maryland to California and then back to Maryland. At this time, he was still working for US Navy Space and Naval warfare command.
After many years, Bob finally wanted to settle down in Elizabeth, PA which became his home for 30 plus years. He held different jobs during this time, including Westinghouse and Emerson. Bob loved trains, volleyball, bicycling, classical music, crossword puzzles, and art. He also enjoyed traveling anywhere, always using "a shortcut". Most of all, he loved his family especially his loving wife Ann.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Ann Sibole; his daughters Kathleen (Scott) Hansen, Deborah (Lou) Mangino and Dorothy (David) White; grandchildren, Carolyn (Nate) Kasprzyk, Kayla (Tom) Lochinski and Gianni Mangino; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Lochinski, Lida Kasprzyk and Barrett Lochinski; siblings, James (Maria) Sibole and Mardii Robinson; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Angela "Marilyn" Sibole and grandson, Robert Hansen.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 15th from 4-8 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
