Robert E. Goldbach's Obituary
Robert E. Goldbach, age 90, of Bethel Park, formerly of Overbrook, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.
Robert is survived by his beloved daughter, Valerie Loretta (William) Walker; two granddaughters, Kayla and Abigail Walker; grandson, Brandon Walker; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Barbara Goldbach; parents, William Frederick and Alvena Louise Goldbach; as well as siblings, William, Charles, Ralph, Gilbert, Kenneth, and Ethel Goldbach.
Robert (Bob) served in the army during peace time after the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany and loved his time there. He became a master at Morse Code and was one of the few who could give a good haircut for some extra spending cash. Though he was asked to stay and teach, he was homesick and wanted to be home with his family and friends. The youngest of six brothers, Bob found himself working as a house builder and carpenter with his two oldest brothers. Later, he owned Arco gas station on Brookline Blvd. with his brother Ralph (Mike). Bob worked there until Arco forced him into early retirement.
Bob enjoyed gardening and took great pride in maintaining the beauty in the yard he created. This was by far his favorite pass time along with owning some race horses at the Meadows. Great times and memories during those years. Most importantly, Bob was a loyal and loving son, brother, husband, father, and friend and he will be greatly missed by many. May God cradle him in his arms and give him the love and peace he most surely deserves.
Services are private and have been entrusted to the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, 15236. Condolences may be shared at www.jeffersonmemorial.biz.
