Robert C. Barna's Obituary
Robert C. Barna, of Indian Head, PA, formerly of Mesopotamia, OH, passed away on June 18, 2023, at the age of 93. Born on August 11, 1929, he was the son of the late John and Ethel Barna. Robert is survived by his loving fiancée of 26 years, Rosina Fix, and his extended family, including Mark (the late Sherrie) Fix, Martin (Linda) Fix, Helenann Gerhart, Christian "Poe" Pavlak, and Roseanne Tight; as well as many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings John Barna, Edward Barna, and Ethel "June" Borgen.
Robert was a dedicated and hardworking individual, spending many years as a steelworker for Republic Steel. He was proud of his work and the contributions he made to the industry. In addition to his career, Robert served his country as a member of the US Army, demonstrating his commitment to the nation and its values.
A talented musician, Robert played the trumpet for most of his life. He was an active member of three music organizations in Ohio, where he shared his passion for music with others and contributed to the vibrant local music scene. His love for music brought joy to those around him and created lasting memories for his friends and family.
In his leisure time, Robert occasionally enjoyed a trip to the casino, where he would try his luck and revel in the excitement of the games. His adventurous spirit and zest for life were evident in his hobbies and interests, making him a beloved figure among his friends and family.
A small service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 3 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236.
