Rita Mae LaFianza's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rita Mae LaFianza, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Rita departed this life on January 18, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, where she had lived for many years.
Born on May 19, 1938, in Pennsylvania, Rita was a proud graduate and valedictorian of Clairton High School. She went on to have a remarkable career in banking that spanned over three decades, during which she managed multiple branches with grace and dedication. Rita's professional accomplishments were matched only by her commitment to her family and her passions.
Rita was a talented seamstress whose love for sewing flourished throughout her life. She took great joy in crafting beautiful garments, including the stunning wedding dress she made for her daughter, Elizabeth. This spirit of creativity reflected her nurturing and caring nature, which touched many lives.
Throughout her life, Rita shared many cherished memories with her husband, Howard LaFianza. They met while Rita worked at Bettis, and their bond grew stronger as they traveled together, exploring new places and creating lasting memories. Their love was an inspiration to those around them.
Rita's legacy will live on through her beloved family: her son, James LaFianza and his wife, Karen Seitz-LaFianza; her daughter, Elizabeth O'Rorke and her husband, Michael; her cherished granddaughter, Teresa O'Rorke; her sister, Mary Ann Petrella and her brother-in-law, John Petrella. Rita is also survived by her cherished nieces and nephew, Jackie (Doug), John (Kim), and the Late Lynn (Rick), and their children, who were more like her grandchildren. Each held a special place in her heart.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rita's remarkable life during a visitation on January 22, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00PM to 7:30PM. Funeral Services are private.
In this time of mourning, we celebrate Rita Mae LaFianza - a woman of strength, love, and creativity whose spirit will continue to guide us. Her dedication to her family, her passions, and her work will be profoundly missed and forever cherished.
