Richard Charles Weigold's Obituary
Richard (Dick) Charles Weigold, age 81, of Pittsburgh passed away on November 16, 2022.
Richard grew up in Hazelwood where he graduated from Allderdice High School. After much finagling, he attended Point Park Jr. College. He then went on to Kent State University where he majored in accounting. Richard was a Vietnam Veteran, serving as Second Lieutenant in the 3D Special Forces as a Green Beret. He served from September 1967 to May 1968. Like most Vets, he was proud to serve but spoke very little of what he went through and saw.
He was married to Sandra McAdams for 31 years. They resided in Jefferson Hills where they raised 4 daughters. After many years there, they downsized and moved to West Mifflin. They also have a house in Florida which they frequent often. He was a business owner of many ventures over the years. These business ranged from a collection agency to the most recent being a home care agency.
Richard was a procrastinator, a fault he openly admitted. He was very good at starting multiple projects at one time because he would get to them at some point. As well as being a pro-procrastinator, he was excellent for being late for everything. We would often joke he would be late for his own funeral. But most of all, Richard was a family man. That was his main 'job'- a job he enjoyed... most of the time! He always had to make sure his family, his girls, were well taken care of, which he succeeded every time.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sandra; children Kimberly (Jim) Schad, Christine (Ed) Barker, Stephanie Weigold (Bob Vespa) and Melinda McAdams; grandchildren Brianna, Ashlynn, Hannah, Olivia and Emmalynn Barker, Nolan Vespa, Trae Davis and Giovanni Otto; siblings Bernard (Jeannie) Weigold, Robert (Bertha) Weigold, Virginia (Greg) Gloss, William (Maureen) Weigold, David (Judy) Weigold, Linda (Ed) Ryan and Patricia Weigold; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Irmalea and Bernard Weigold, and siblings Betsy McKinley, Dorothy Gaston and Charles Wolkiewicz.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, November 21 at 9:30 am at Most Precious Blood of Jesus Parish, 3250 California Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Everyone is to meet at the church.
