Richard B. Snyder's Obituary
Richard B. Snyder, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on February 15, 1934, in Latrobe, PA, Richard's life was marked by his dedication to education, his love for boating, and his unwavering commitment to his family and faith.
Richard's journey began as the beloved son of the late Oscar and Grace Snyder. His passion for learning and guiding young minds led him to a fulfilling career as a school teacher in Clairton, where he influenced countless students with his wisdom and kindness. Upon retirement, he did not slow down but instead found new ways to enjoy life and engage with his community. Post-retirement, he worked as a teller at Irvin Works Credit Union.
An avid boater, Richard was a well-known member of the Castaway Yacht Club on the Youghiogheny Lake, where he shared his love for the open water with friends and family alike. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he served as an active member of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church. Richard also enjoyed the camaraderie and engagement of the Clairton AARP, where he connected with peers and gave back to the community he so dearly loved.
Richard's life was a testament to the joy of family gatherings, where his presence was a source of comfort and happiness. His stories, laughter, and wisdom filled the room, creating memories that will be treasured by all who knew him. He was a man who lived his values, and his influence will continue to be felt through the lives of those he touched.
He is survived by his spouse, Nettiebell Snyder; children Vicki Lynne (Fred) Dean and Karen A. (Ralph "Brother") Roney; step-children Debra (Chuck) Stallard, Robert (Carol) Kish, Daniel Kish, Susan (James) Hanratty, and Timothy (Reyna) Kish; grandchildren Nicole McBride, Tyler Dean, and Andrea Dean; step-grandchildren Stacey Stallard, Nicholas Hanratty, Krysten Oskin, Tammy Stouffer, Kali Kish, Elizabeth Kish, and Chelsey Davis; great-grandchildren Grayson McBride and Bexley McBride; step great-grandchildren Zachary Booth, Nathan Stallard, Eva Stouffer, Mya Stouffer, Jay Stouffer, Bryce Hanratty, Declan Hanratty, Zachary Oskin, Brooks Oskin, Kennedy Oskin, Madalynn Hanratty, and Daisy Hanratty; step great-great grandsons Jack Booth and Nash Booth.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his step-grandson Brandon Hanratty.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 1 pm - 5 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, PIttsburgh, 15236. A funeral service will take place Monday, February 12 at 10 am at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church, 2800 Old Elizabeth Road, West Mifflin, 15122. Family requests everyone to meet at the church.
